Gender oppression can be defined as an unequal state of power relations between the sexes, characterized by domination, subordination and finally resistance. It is only when the oppressed attain a certain level of consciousness of their oppression, that they begin to resist it. In the United States, due to psychological conditioning by the mass media, many women are unaware of their own oppression.
In this slide show, I will unpack the layers of subtle psychological conditioning to unveil its stranglehold on our psyches. Once revealed, women can begin to unravel the web of oppression and strive for liberation. In the process of resisting oppressive patriarchal forces, one can achieve psychological and political well-being both individually and collectively.
